Church leaders, staff, trustees and volunteers are invited to attend free Faith Security Training at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Norwich on either Monday 19 or Tuesday 20 October.
The sessions will take place from 10am to 5pm in the Narthex Hall and are open to people from all Christian denominations.
Faith Security Training is a new national scheme designed to help faith communities protect their places of worship from anti-social behaviour, crime and more serious threats. Funded by the Home Office and delivered by CDS Support, the training is available to faith communities throughout England and Wales.
Participants will learn how to understand potential security threats, take appropriate action before an incident and respond effectively when one occurs. The course also includes realistic risk scenarios and guidance on good security governance for places of worship.
The training is suitable for anyone involved in the life and management of a church, including clergy, parish leaders, trustees, employees and volunteers. It is intended to complement, rather than replace, any existing safeguarding or security training.
Each date offers a separate full-day session, allowing participants to choose the day most convenient for them. Attendance is free, but advance booking is required.
The sessions will be held at the Narthex Hall, Cathedral of St John the Baptist, Earlham Road, Norwich, NR2 2RA.
