National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima to Visit St John the Baptist Cathedral

The Cathedral of St John the Baptist in Norwich is pleased to welcome the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue (NPVS) of Our Lady of Fatima, together with the relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto, for a special two-day visit on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October 2026.

The visit, arranged by the World Apostolate of Fatima (England & Wales), will provide an opportunity for the faithful to come together in prayer, celebration and devotion to Our Lady of Fatima.

Saturday 17 October

The first day will begin at 9.35am with a welcome and notices, followed at 9.45am by the procession of the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue and the relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto.

The procession will include the enthronement of the statue, reception of the relics, crowning, incensing and the Prayer for England, before Holy Mass at 10.00am.

Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for prayer and reflection, including:

• Veneration of the relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta
• Communal recitation and reflection on the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary
• Litany of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
• The Angelus
• A documentary film, Fatima: Message for the World
• A talk entitled Fatima: Promise of Salvation and Peace
• Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
• Divine Mercy Chaplet and Chaplet of Adoration and Reparation
• Benediction
• Enrolment and investiture of the Brown Scapular

The day’s programme will conclude at 4.30pm.

Sunday 18 October

The visit will continue on Sunday with Holy Mass at 9.00am, followed by a Solemn Mass with Bishop Peter Collins at 11.00am.

The Mass will include the Consecration Prayer of the Diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The visit will conclude at 12.30pm.

A special opportunity for prayer

The visit of the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima and the relics of Saints Francisco and Jacinta is a wonderful opportunity for the Cathedral community and visitors from across the Diocese to deepen their prayer and devotion.

All are warmly invited to attend, take part in the liturgies and devotions, and spend time in prayer before Our Lady and the relics of the two young saints of Fatima.
