On Sunday 21st July over the parish families gathered at the Cathedral to give thanks for the journey in faith that their children and young people undertook over the past 9 months.
This year the cathedral family saw 102 children and 64 Confirmands prepare for the sacraments of First Holy Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation and have supported them all in their prayers throughout the year.
Thank you to all the catechists, volunteers and parents who taught the faith and supported the children in preparing for the sacraments. Special thanks to Fr Alan, Fr Michael, Fr Dennis and Fr Jinu for their support and guidance over the year and for being there to administer the sacraments to us all.
The catechesis programme is taking a short break over the summer, but work has begun behind the scenes to prepare for the next year’s programme – see details below. The online registration form for the 2024-25 First Holy Communion and Confirmation programmes is now available. Please click on the link here to submit a registration form.
The programme begins in September 2024 and runs for 9 months, when Confirmandi receiving the sacrament of Confirmation in early June 2025 and First Holy Communicants receiving their First Holy Communion in mid- June to early July.
Children aged 8 and above (entering Year 3 in September 2024) should apply for the First Holy Communion programme. Any teenagers aged 13 and above (entering Year 9 in September 2024 and older) should apply for the Confirmation Programme.
