The Children’s Pilgrimage on 28th May 2024 was attended by over 600 pilgrims from across the diocese.  Fr Pat Cleary led the procession from Little Walsingham village down the old railway line to the Basilica accompanied by over 500 children and families.  It was a wet and windy procession but also a joyous occasion.  The statue of Our Lady of Walsingham was met with flower petals and over 30 flags of the nationalities represented at the pilgrimage.

The theme of the pilgrimage was Our Lady Queen of Peace and Bishop Peter in his homily encouraged us all to be peacemakers by looking after each other and listening to and supporting our parents and families.  At the end of the mass the pilgrims were encouraged to write out a prayer or pledge for peace and place it on the Peace Tree.  Over 130 prayer doves were placed on the tree and later transferred to the Slipper Chapel and placed into the petition box.

Thank you to the 52 pilgrims from the parish who joined the pilgrimage this year.  It wasn’t quite beach weather, but a good time was had by all.
