This bank holiday weekend saw the Cathedral hosting the Flore de Mayo – Marian Flower Festival with 20 floral tributes displayed around the Cathedral based on the 20 Mysteries of the Rosary.

Visitors to the cathedral enjoyed the vibrant and imaginative displays from the Flower Group, Couples for Christ and Handmaids of the Lord. The Pieta, the Nativity, the Marriage at Cana, the Ascension with Jesus’ feet  and the Crown of Thorns were among the favourites of those who attended the Flower Festival.  Around 30 children took part in the Mysteries trails over the weekend matching the floral displays to the Mysteries of the Rosary.  On Sunday 26th May the parish made a short procession from the Walsingham Chapel to the cathedral garden to crown the statue of Our Lady and lay floral tributes around the statue.

Sincere thanks to everyone who took part in the Flower Festival and Marian celebrations – click here for a link to the Flores de Mayo photo album.
